Demands Explode for Trey Gowdy to Be Speaker of the House [PETITION]
Although John Boehner has already suggested that he might not serve as Speaker of the House through the 2016 elections, some believe that he should be replaced much earlier than that.
A poll recently set up on a Tea Party Facebook Page suggesting Gowdy as Boehner’s replacement has already generated thousands of shares and tens of thousands of “likes.” Moreover, the thousands of comments left by readers on the page are overwhelmingly supportive, with some suggesting that Speaker of the House is too small a job for Gowdy and that he should run for president instead. Others suggest that Gowdy would make an excellent attorney general, as well.
Online petitions seeking to replace Boehner with Gowdy abound. One such petition reads:
We the people would like to respectfully request that you remove John Boehner R-OH 8th District from the office of Speaker of the House due to His inability perform the Duties required of him by his constituents. We understand that Mr. Boehner is a very nice person and that is exactly why we make this request. We need a Leader, not a Friend. We would like to request that the Honorable Trey Gowdy R-SC 4th District be sworn in as speaker of the House of representatives[.]
Similar petitions can be found at change.org and elsewhere. These petitions have garnered thousands of signatures.
The demand for a representative of Gowdy‘s character to replace Boehner is not surprising. His willingness to take on the the mainstream media, congressional Democrats, and even President Obama himself have impressed many conservatives.
Additionally, his impartial resolve to get to the truth surrounding the Benghazi attacks as chair of the select committee investigating them should be equally admired by those on both sides of the aisle–though we have reason to believe that it is not.
